Biography
Educational background
I hold a master degree in textile engineering. I started my career in the textile industry in 1988 as product developer. In 1999, after more than10 years in industry, I took a position as a researcher and innovation expert for the textile industry at HOGENT University of Applied Sciences & Arts.
Academic experience
I am currently the head of the research centre FTILab+ and hold a position as lecturer. I have vast experience in research, project management and teaching. My main research areas are in the field of clothing comfort, biobased materials and textile functionalization.
Industry experience
I have coordinated over 25 projects in both national and international frameworks with various funding (IWT TETRA, IWT HOBU, IWT VIS, INTERREG, CORNET, ERA-SME, FP6, FP7, PWO UCGhent, Erasmus+) and (co)-authored over 80 publications in national and international journals and conferences.
